Wallet Model

Atomex is presented as a non-custodial desktop HD wallet. Accounts are derived from a recovery phrase controlled by the user, and wallet data is stored locally in encrypted form.

  • No hosted account is required for the wallet interface.
  • The recovery phrase should be backed up offline before funds are moved.
  • Outgoing transactions should be reviewed on screen before signing.

Core entities

Use clear separation between wallet state, account derivation, chain adapters, prepared transactions, and signed payloads. UI code should never treat a prepared transaction as sent until signing and broadcast are complete.

Swap Protocol

Atomex heritage centers on hybrid atomic swaps. Two chains can coordinate an exchange through Hash Time-Locked Contracts, where a shared secret unlocks the redeem path and a timelock protects the refund path.

  • Lock: each side locks funds into a contract tied to the same secret hash.
  • Verify: each side checks the counterpart contract before revealing the secret.
  • Redeem or refund: the secret redeems both sides, while an expired timelock allows refund.

The atomic-swap exchange was announced as suspended in 2023. Treat this protocol material as historical context unless a maintained trading service is separately provided.

Security Notes

Keep the wallet boundary simple: keys stay local, recovery phrases stay offline, and every transaction needs deliberate review before signing.

  • Verify installer checksums before opening a downloaded package.
  • Do not enter a recovery phrase into websites, support chats, or unknown apps.
